I have been living in New York City, intermittently, for around 10 years. I collected a group of photos, on the NYC holiday season color lights, including the house lights, the apartment lights, store lights and the square lights.

 I have been living in New York City, intermittently, for around 10 years. I collected a group of photos, on the NYC holiday season color lights, including the house lights, the apartment lights, store lights and the square lights.

I was asking the some native friends. "Do you have the social subsidy for these colorful street lights"? A house owner kindly told me, yes, usually he could get some funding from the city, to support his project for the holiday lights.

The MTA Bus which is behind the schedule or skipping some stops

The NYC MTA Bus, sometimes seems to dislike to park at some bus stops, which are near to my location. 
Probably a more obvious and clear "No standing/parking" sign can be added, especially during the dark night.

The street is already quite narrow. The bus may be often behind the schedule or shipping some stops. Not only the bus driver should be more patient, but also the residents need to keep the bus stop clean and tidy.

Grand Opening of Detroit Qline

Since the mid of May, the Detroit Q-line Streetcar System begins his running.

Just like the New York city MTA, this subway is separate from the DDOT. We need to buy a special Q-line ticket to take this trolley.

In the Fig.1, we can see that, the riders can hang his bike on the trolley, and at every bus station we have a standing self-service toll machine, we can buy Q-line tickets from this self-service kiosk. People can read the Q-line map at each kiosk. Now the Q-line is from the Detroit City center circle to the Amtrak station, along the Woodward avenue.

In the first days' running, it had some traffic jam. A lot of people came to visit this new Q-line. And the Woodward Avenue is not a very big road. So this trolley might not be good for the very heavy load transportation. In the busy afternoon, two trolley buses were jammed in the cross road.

In the Fig.2, two buses were before a cross road. And the staff were working on the Woodward to relieve this traffic jam.

Finally I think this new Q-line gives Detroit a big-city feeling. As a passersby said, "we started to feel like New York".

Detroit Flooding by storm 2017

During recent two days, we have Detroit Flooding by storm and rainfall in 2017. According to weather report, in Metro area we have 1-2.5 inches rainfall across our city. The storm may affect Detroit city's transportation. But I didn't see any water flooding in the freeway while I was going back home. Also the Q-line was running as usual.

This rainfall also resulted in DTE Energy's power outage, standing water and sewer overwhelming. 

PS: The Hurricane Harvey swamps Huston, Texas and Louisiana Border.

Working in Kroger and training

Working in Kroger is a good experience. After your interview, you will get a full training section which is directed by Kroger online courses and quiz. From company culture to tools and facilities in your store, from general operations to rules and warnings, you can learn a lot from it.

The most important, all the training time is paid. So you get extra hours. The Kroger's standard paycheck would be very classic design. They could usually transfer to the front desk around 2 weeks after the payday. (The salary is paid weekly)

Also their classic uniform 'Customer 1st', and the training documents are absolutely very great. You may see the employee benefits and discounts. Very good to part time students.

Finally you will enter your team. Usually you will go to 2 or 3 departments in the first months. Although modern supermarket is quite different from traditional market places, you can still enjoy the spirits of a traditional grocery store here and there.

Hotel review: beside the FLL airport, it's a good location, good price, near the train station and the airport.

They have good rooms and large parking lot. Many people go there for the beach.
