Detroit Flooding by storm 2017

During recent two days, we have Detroit Flooding by storm and rainfall in 2017. According to weather report, in Metro area we have 1-2.5 inches rainfall across our city. The storm may affect Detroit city's transportation. But I didn't see any water flooding in the freeway while I was going back home. Also the Q-line was running as usual.

This rainfall also resulted in DTE Energy's power outage, standing water and sewer overwhelming. 

PS: The Hurricane Harvey swamps Huston, Texas and Louisiana Border.

Working in Kroger and training

Working in Kroger is a good experience. After your interview, you will get a full training section which is directed by Kroger online courses and quiz. From company culture to tools and facilities in your store, from general operations to rules and warnings, you can learn a lot from it.

The most important, all the training time is paid. So you get extra hours. The Kroger's standard paycheck would be very classic design. They could usually transfer to the front desk around 2 weeks after the payday. (The salary is paid weekly)

Also their classic uniform 'Customer 1st', and the training documents are absolutely very great. You may see the employee benefits and discounts. Very good to part time students.

Finally you will enter your team. Usually you will go to 2 or 3 departments in the first months. Although modern supermarket is quite different from traditional market places, you can still enjoy the spirits of a traditional grocery store here and there.

They have nice building, cool rooms with a wonderful swimming pool. Beautiful pool and lights especially at night. I can even see the airplane flying through my window. I saw quite a lot of South American people living and dining here. They do provide very good food and free breakfast.

Hotel review: in Niagara Falls, they have two Marriott hotels there. If you choose the tall tower behind, usually the price is lower. Both of them have the falls view, but the secondary hotel needs to be on top.

They have nice houses. Beautiful mountains and lakes. (The ski-lifts are only open for winters. Prices of the houses are a little high) Clean room and fresh air. A wonderful place for your family.

They have very tall building. Almost everything, Fitness center, Parking, Dining Room.

The entrance is just between the subway station and the airport entrance channel. If you are first time there, pay attention to that.

I like their nice lobby.

They have super tall building, near to the bus station. But you still need to walk to the main beach for around 20 minutes.


Free water in the lobby, if you live on top of the tower, very good sea sight view from your big window. (Because other tall buildings surrounding this location, you need to require to live in a room on the top of this Hotel) 


They provide everything, Parking, Fitness center, Swimming pool. Basically you get good price here. You can have a ABC store, some good dinning places along the street (Red lobster, Subway, McDonald's). Also with car rental and bike rental.

The only problem is that one of elevator is often down... So slow to go...

How to find your lost item back in American Airlines

Well, that is my true story. I was getting off a flight, I was talking to a friend beside me and fanatical collecting my carry-on bags. But after I left the airport, I double checked my possessions, I found that an important notebook was left in the seat pockets. 

The following experience told me that at that time, I need to go back to the airport immediately before the round trip airplane goes back. That was a flight from LGA to DTW. Every morning they operated the same flight between the two cities. People and working shifts might change a lot if you came back on the next day. So if it was within 30 minutes, the staff would help to double check your seat or the nooks and crannies. That would be the fastest way to get your things back.

However, I got home then. I called the airport and AA. The next day I went back to DTW but the staff there could not help me. In the following months I wrote several notes to AA staff, DTW and LGA airport, in case that they may find it out someday. Then I followed the online automated filing system, (on aa.com -> customer service) 

I just followed their steps and filed my form. I was told to provide AA card number, flight number and my contact number. Then I got a confirmation letter, saying that 'they will work on this case to get the lost item back'. In fact I was already despairing and didn't put much hope on this online 'robot'.

But to my surprise, it's pretty good. Although the Customer Service people didn't give me much kindly and soft words, they did it! After around 2 months, they mailed my notebook back to my home! By USPS fast delivery. 

It seems that this service is processed by AA Advantage Club. Before the mailing package, they will give you notice letter first. Sometimes small pleasant surprise surrounding our life. I think from then on, I will feel warm and lovely when I see the AA logo ^_^

Anyway you go to AA main page, Lost and Found, then just follow their steps. Usually they will mail your items back within 1 month or 2. And if you lost your things in the airport or at the security, they provide you contacts to call to the airport office.
